Monthly pub nights

The monthly JMCS pub night normally takes place on the first Thursday of each month, starting at 6pm in BrewDog, 5 New St, Edinburgh EH8 8BH (5 minutes walk from Waverley station, eastwards along E Market St).

If the pub night is on a non-standard night then this will be posted here, and a message will be sent round.

NB   DINNER BOOKINGS HAVE NOW REACHED FULL CAPACITY!

See here for the updated   Centenary Dinner booking arrangements.

Club AGM

Since the Centenary Dinner (see above) is taking place in mid November, which is roughly when the Edinburgh JMCS AGM and Dinner usually takes place it has been decided that we will not hold the Edinburgh JMCS dinner this year - members are encouraged to attend the Centenary dinner instead.
However, to satisfy the club constitutional requirements we still need to hold a (brief) AGM.
So we propose to hold this in Edinburgh as follows.

Date and time:
6.30 - 7.30,   Thursday,  27 November 2025

Venue:
the upstairs function room
The Outhouse Bar,
12A Broughton Street Lane,
Edinburgh, EH1 3LY.

This is where we have held the annual club slide night for the last few years.
Broughton Street Lane is a somewhat unprepossessing lane off of Broughton Street, but the bar is quite good.
You go under an archway from Broughton Street into the lane, and the Outhouse is about 50 yards along on the right.
The bar staff can direct you to the stairs to the function room (you can buy a drink at the same time).

Alpine Club-JMCS-SMC winter lectures

The Alpine Club-JMCS-SMC winter lecture programme is described here:

The winter 2025-26 programme

These lectures are sponsored by the SMC, the Edinburgh JMCS and the Alpine Club, and take place on the second Tuesday of each of the months October to March, starting at 7.30 prompt as we are obliged to vacate the premises by 9.30pm.

The venue will once again be the

Quaker Meeting House,
7 Victoria Terrace,
Edinburgh, EH1 2JL.

This is the galleried terrace above Victoria Street and the easiest access is from George IV Bridge beside Pizza Express opposite the National Library.
At this time of day, parking is usually available in the Grassmarket at the foot of Victoria Street.
