date venue notes
21 Nov The Cabin, Balgowan/ Laggan Hotel
Contact: Helen Forde
Official opening of the club's new hut, The Cabin, on Saturday afternoon followed by club AGM and annual dinner at the Laggan Hotel on Saturday evening.
11-13 Dec Waters Cottage, Kinlochleven
Contact: Susan Marvell
6 places £5 ppn.
A popular meet in the past, this venue gives plenty of scope for early season walking and mountaineering, whether it be in the Mamores or in Glen Coe. The Ice Factor provides an opportunity for warming up those axes.
15-17 Jan The Cabin, Balgowan
Contact: Susan Marvell
10 places £6 ppn.
Whether it's powder and granite in the Northern Cairngorms or the Aonachs, or water ice wherever it can be found, the hut will provide a great base for getting to these routes while day-light is still in short supply. Plenty of winter hill walking on our doorstep too and maybe opportunities for some ski-touring. Warm your toes after a hard day on the hill, beside the hut's roaring wood-burning stove! Hut details.
12-15 Feb Glen Brittle Memorial Hut, Skye
Contact: Susan Marvell
8 places £5 ppn.
Long weekend
Since the last guide was published, there have been many new winter routes of all grades on Skye recorded in the SMC journals, showing that winter conditions are not quite as elusive as we might expect. This well equipped hut will provide an opportunity to explore the British Alps in winter, where the special combination of mountains, sea and (fingers crossed) snow will enable members to enjoy stunning winter ridge walking and climbing in the Cuillins.

12-14 Mar The Cabin, Balgowan
Contact: Susan Marvell
10 places £6 ppn.
Neighbouring Creag Meagaidh and, a bit further west - the Ben, should by now be in pretty good condition. There should be a good snow-base for touring and of course still opportunities for winter hill walking.

2-5 Apr The Cabin, Balgowan
Contact: Susan Marvell
10 places £6 ppn.
Long weekend
The longer daylight will allow some equally long days over the course of this meet, whether it be up on the Ben or deep into the Cairngorms. The ski-touring too can be excellent and in the past members have, at this time of year, toured over the four (now five) four-thousanders and the Aonachs.
Great rock climbing available nearby at Creag Dubh, or if you fancy it, climb on the Moray Coast.

16-18 Apr CIC Hut, Ben Nevis
Contact: Susan Marvell
8 places £10 ppn.
With Easter behind us the hill shouldn't be too busy and is often at its best by now. This meet to the popular and recently refurbished CIC hut means that an early start from the hut should ensure being first on route on a great classic. Maybe an Alpine start for Point Five followed by Centurion in the afternoon. - See here! .
Great chance for some ski-touring in the corries too.
