Social events
Below is a general list of some of the various club social events.
For exact dates and details, see
news.
Post-climbing pub
Many of the regulars at the climbing evenings or talks can be found at a local pub afterwards.
The usual pubs are:
- After Alien Rock: the Starbank Inn, Laverockbank Road.
- After Ratho: the Bridge Inn, Ratho.
- After JMCS/SMC talks: there is a bar upstairs in the venue.
- After cragging: at a suitable pub near to the crag
(some of the standard pubs are described in the crag directions).
Anyone interested in joining the club is welcome to come along, but it's worth emailing the first to make sure that someone will be there! (and have a look at the joining page).
Pub/social nights
As an experiment, some of us have decided to reinstate the monthly JMCS pub night - a tradition which lapsed a few years ago. For current dates and details, see news.
JMCS/SMC talks
During the winter months, the SMC and JMCS organise guest talks from
famous (and not so famous!) mountaineers.
The venue is
The Royal Overseas League
100 Princes St
Edinburgh, EH2 3AB
This is close to the junction with Frederick street -

Free parking is available on George St after 6.30pm.
Talks begin at 7.30pm sharp.
AGM and Annual Dinner
The Club AGM and Annual Dinner takes place on a Saturday during November, usually at a hotel in the Highlands.
Annual slide night
The Club holds an annual slide night in December, which provides an opportunity to see what everyone has been up to during the year.
